Well, that’s me. I met someone once. Our eyes met. The world stopped. Then it was over. i didn’t made a move or say a word. And now I dream of that person. I think I always will.

I wrote it from a very real place. It is raw, honest, waiting, hoping and trusting the destiny.

The Poem

Someone I met once

I think I have met you
maybe not face to face
maybe on the other side of the world

In my dreams, or my imagination
you seem to hold a piece of me
you look like the person I wish had stayed

Even though your face is unrecognizable
I still think I have met you

Why I wrote a poem about someone I met once

Let me tell you the whole story. It was one look. That’s all. But it changed how I see everything. I let the moment pass. Since then, I wait for fate. I pray to destiny. I ask it to do the work I did not do.

When I travel, I look at every face. New city. New street. I see empty seats in cafés. I see benches near old monuments. And I picture you there. Right next to me. I hope you are looking for me too. In a crowd. In a café. At a monument. I believe in destiny. I believe in fate. Until the universe tells me no, I will wait.

People say a look is only a look. Science says it can matter. In a 2012 study from Purdue University, people who got eye contact from a stranger felt less disconnected than people who were looked past. (Source: Association for Psychological Science) It was a small study. But I don’t need a study to know what I felt.

So I wrote this poem. About a face I can’t see clearly. About a feeling I can’t shake.
